Learn the history of Pike Place Market, browse through the many stalls and unique eateries, watch the fishmongers toss their slippery merchandise, and visit the “original Starbucks". At Seattle Center, enjoy a 360-degree view of the city from the observation deck of the Space Needle before wandering through the enchanting sculpture displays at the Chihuly Glass Museum. This tour will access all the major waterways the whales travel, and we often view whales within the Haro Strait, just a few miles from Roche Harbor. Your naturalist guide will focus not only on showing our guests Orca (Killer) Whales, but a wider variety of wildlife as well. Other highlights include Dalls Porpoise, Harbor Porpoise, Minke Whales, Humpback Whales, Bald Eagles, and more. With a heated cabin, inside and outside seating, and a full wrap around viewing deck, there is lots of room to move around and stretch your legs throughout the tour. After your morning whale watching tour you'll have the afternoon free to continue exploring the island with your naturalist guide.

Search for Orcas by kayak with a 5-hour paddle in one of the most sought after kayaking destinations in the world, the San Juan Islands. Departing from Roche Harbor, you'll pass through mostly undeveloped islands just northwest of San Juan Island and enjoy sweeping views of the Olympic Mountains, Haro Strait, Vancouver Island, the Canadian Gulf Islands. Here you'll have the chance to see eagles, seals, porpoise, and invertebrates in their natural habitat and stop on a pebble beach for a home-packed picnic lunch and a chance to stretch your legs. Then continue through the Haro Strait, where you'll spot for orca whales by kayak before looping back to Roche Harbor.

On this full-day tour, your professional naturalist guide will reveal the magestic beauty, luminous peaks, pristine alpine lakes and lush rain forests of Olympic National Park. Explore trails leading to panoramic views at Hurricane Ridge, purched high in the Olympic Mountains, followed by a lakeside lunch at Lake Crescent Lodge. Then take in the mountain mist during an afternoon hike to Merymere Falls before reaching your respite for the evening at the historic Lake Quinalt Lodge.

For intrepid travellers, trade out the lodge for an overnight in a glamper unit overlooking the Pacific Ocean in nearby Kalaloch.

You'll enjoy sea-views along the drive and a stop in the West's oldest settlement, Astoria. You'll have the change to dine at a local brewery and visit their resident sea lions from the docks before making your way to the charming coastal hamlet of Cannon Beach for your overnight stay.

During this drive we'll traverse the Cascade Mountain Range and will have the opportunity to stop for lunch at either Suttle Lake Lodge and Boathouse or in the charming artisan town of Sisters. Plenty of opportunities to stop for hiking and panoramic lookouts.

You'll end the day in the high desert mountain town of Bend, know to many as and outdoor recreationalist mecca. Flanked by the Cascade Range and high desert, the peaks, lakes, rivers and endless miles of trails are home to year-round outdoor activities. The town itself packs plenty of charm as a historic outpost for the lumber industry. And with one brewery for every 4,500 people Bend has the most breweries per capita in the state of Oregon. Your guide will orient you to the town and provide you history and cultural insights into this adventure destination. From there you can easily to explore by foot, bike and even kayak for the rest of the afternoon.

Day Trip to Crater Lake National Park

Located about 2 hours south of Bend, Crater Lake National Park is the perfect day-trip destination. Enjoy a day of adventure at the United States’ deepest and purest lake- a place that will humble those who witness it. En route to a few sweet hikes, several stops on the rim will give everyone great vantage points while the guide unfurls the geologic and cultural history of our 6th national park. Surprising viewpoints from tucked away walks will fill one’s senses or magnanimous views from the volcanic rim’s highest point, nearly 9,000 feet, will totally astound. We'll venture 700’ down to lake’s edge where an incredible swim will provide an unparalleled experience in the world’s purest body of water. The day will include a picnic lunch served under the old growth trees, perched on the edge of the lake’s rim. Upgrade your trip with a ranger led boat excursion to Wizard Island or a guided bike ride around the rim.

Day 13: Columbia River Gorge / Portland

You'll depart from Bend, heading 2.5 hours north to the Columbia River Gorge. Along the way you'll stop at Smith Rock State Park, one of the "Seven Wonders of Oregon" where you'll explore the 650 acre park with your naturalist guide. From there you'll make your way the town of Hood River, known as the Northwest capital of wind and kite surfing. Enjoy lunch at one of the craft breweries in town before embarking on the final 35 mile stretch from Hood River to Portland through the incredible Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. You'll pass through North America's most concentrated stretch of waterfalls and will have opportunities to stop for hiking or waterfall viewing.

End your evening either at Skamania Lodge, nestled in the west end of the Columbia River Gorge, less than 1 hour from the Portland International Airport. Or if you'd prefer to enjoy some last minute tax free shopping, we recommend a stay in downtown Portland.
